How do I amend my 2021 Federal Tax return only? I do not want to amend my State return. When I amend my Federal return TurboTax makes me amend my State return as well

@taxchange21 why do you only want to amend the Federal return?  If the income (line 11) is changed on the federal return, that can change the state tax return as well.  Many states begin with Adjusted Gross Income as the starting point for their state returns. 

what is causing the amendment?

when you amend federal the IRS may notify the state. if you're due a refund on the amended return this may not cause a problem but some states may still ask for an amended state return.
