Any tax data files you saved will be in the TurboTax folder within the Document directory.

How can I view .tax extension files?

I know where  all of my files are, however some of my files are in the native Turbo Tax format i.e xx.tax2013. For example one file name is 2013 My Name Form 1040.tax2013 . How can I open this file and review my tax information. For other years I save a pdf after finishing my taxes, for those years I can easily view my info, However for a few years I did NOT save a pdf and only have the Turbo Tax working file i.e. "2013 My Name Form 1040.tax2013".

How can I open this file .tax20xx extension file and view it?

I tried all of the old turbo tax programs 2023~2018 on my PC however they will not open this file. Please Help.

How can I view .tax extension files?

To open any tax data file which has a file extension of .taxyyyy where yyyy is the tax year you must use the TurboTax software for the tax year of the data file.

How can I view .tax extension files?

TurboTax does not support tax years prior to 2020.  So even if you can find software from another vendor for an earlier tax year there will not be any updates nor state programs available from TurboTax.

There is company that will take the old tax data files and produce a tax return but there is a charge for the service and the company is not associated with TurboTax nor recommended by TurboTax.
