I have never received them for myself and I was wondering how I could claim the checks myself this year.

What do you mean by "until I was not declared a dependent?" If you could be claimed as someone else's dependent for 2020 and 2021, you are not eligible to get the stimulus checks now even if you are not someone's dependent for 2022. It is based only on your eligibility during the years of 2020 and/or 2021.
