Form cp21c notice.

I e-filed my taxes in March, 2021 and sent a check for the amount due.  On May 12, I received a notice, Form cp21c,  saying my taxes had been reduced by the amount that had been due.

Will the IRS automatically issue a refund for the amount I paid or do I need to file an amended return?

It means that they have adjusted your refund was reduced. If there is a refund to be had after the reduction, they will send it to you. Do not file an amended return. They have already "amended" your return for you.

You do not need to do anything unless you disagree with the changes made by the IRS.

To clarify, that means the IRS will issue a refund check with no further action on my part?
