Filing Tax Return

I am a non-resident alien married filing jointly. I used turbotax to file my taxes. I believe I was able to have the e-file option for Federal Tax but only by mail for State Tax. That case is fine however after clicking finish on the steps on TT, my Federal still says "Started". Do I also need to file my Federal by mail? When I click "Continue" on my federal tax, when it goes to filing options, it is not clickable (only the State is). I am so confused. When I filed last year with Sprintax i didnt have this problem, was able to e-file my federal and file by mail my State.

Filing Tax Return

When a Non-Resident Alien (NRA) marries a U.S. Resident or Citizen and chooses to file Married Filing Jointly (MFJ), the IRS requires a signed, written statement (the "Section 6013(g) election") to be attached to the return.

TurboTax can generate this statement, but the IRS cannot accept it electronically if it's the first year you are making this choice. Because a physical signature is required on that specific statement, TurboTax blocks the e-file option for the Federal return to ensure you comply with IRS mailing rules.

You will need to mail both your federal and state returns this year because the statement regarding the Section 6013(g) election needs to be signed by both of you.
