Filing status

I need assistance if I should amend my return. I submitted my return and selected the option that I can be claimed by someone(parent) before knowing that my mother wasn’t able to claim me due to my income exceeding $4300, age 20 and part time student. Should I change my filing status and if so, would the status be single?

Amend will be available in TurboTax in late March.  Do not attempt to amend until the function is available.  It is best to wait until your current return has been processed before filing an amend.  You will change your filing status to single.

You generally must file an amended return within three years of the date you filed the original return or within two years after the date you paid the tax, whichever is later.
