hi! me and my husband are having trouble trying to file our 2022 taxes, as 2 years ago he messed up and filed “head of household” and as well claimed my child (not biologically his) and so now we are having to amend his tax return so i can submit my original 2022 return with my child on it.
i am going to the usps office to mail in his amended return this week, where my child is taken off. since i have the option to e-file or mail my original tax return, im stuck in which decision would be best since the IRS has to fix his amended return. i don’t want to wait 12 weeks before i can submit mine since that’s usually how long it takes for the IRS to fix amended returns. would i be able to efile and get approved for my return once the IRS has his amended return in hand or would i have to wait for it to be completely fixed. i also have until April 15th to send in my 2022 return since that is the last day of filing.
any advice is appreciated!! i just want the easiest and quickest method to get my refund.

You have until April 15, 2026 to amend your 2022 return. You will have to wait for his return to be processed before the IRS can deal with yours. You will have to mail your return.
