Filing 1099-DIV 2025

Good morning.

Need help. I just filed my tax return and IRS already accepted it. Then today, I just received my form 1099-DIV from my previous investment. And the total ordinary dividends is $3.43 with a qualified dividends of 1.54. Am I still required to amend this? Thank you so much for your response.

Filing 1099-DIV 2025

In order to file a complete and accurate tax return for 2024, you should amend your return to include the additional income from the Form 1099-DIV you just received.

That being said, the amounts reported on that Form 1099-DIV are not likely to change your return significantly, if at all.  You could decide that it is not worth the effort to file an amended return unless there is another reason to do so.  You might receive a letter from the IRS stating that you did not report all of your income, but again that seems unlikely for such a small amount.  Either way, be sure to keep the Form 1099-DIV with your tax records and make some notes about whether you decide to amend or not.
