I am active duty military currently stationed in HI but with my home of residence as GA. I messed up somewhere and accidentally filed my 2019 state taxes as HI and now owe the state; I was told that this is wrong and need to file for my state of residence and not my current duty station. What do I do I owe a lot of money

You will need to amend your HI return for 2019.  You will change your status to non-resident and exclude your active duty military income.  If you filed your 2019 return with TurboTax, you can use the amend function in your account at sign in.

Additionally,  you will need to file as a GA resident as they do tax your military pay.

All forms will need to be printed, signed and mailed in.  TurboTax will have an instruction sheet for each to include the mailing addresses.
