File for 2014 tax

I'm an international student, I didn't have any earnings but my tuition may include some tax returns. Will the TurboTax Deluxe be able to cover that? thanks!

Yes Deluxe would allow you to file for an education credit on a tax return. However, you may not be eligible for one. The American Opportunity Credit is in two parts. 60% of it is non refundable meaning you must have a tax liability for it to offset in order to get it. If you had no taxable income, you would not have a tax liability.

The other 40% of the credit is refundable meaning you can get it even if you have no tax liability. However, for a student under age 24, you must generally have provided more than half your own support from income earned from working in order to qualify for the refundable credit. You said you had no earnings so you wouldn't qualify for this portion of the credit if under age 24.

TurboTax can only prepare tax returns for US citizens and Resident Aliens; i.e., a regular Form 1040/A/EZ.   It cannot prepare a Form 1040NR or 1040NR-EZ.  People in this forum can help you determine your status and whether you can use TurboTax or not.

What is your citizenship status?  What dates were you in the USA?  What visa were you under?  Were you married?

You are asking about filing a prior year return--i.e. tax year 2014, right?  That requires purchase of the 2014 desktop software (CD/download) and installing it on your computer--IF you are eligible to use TurboTax for a resident return.

The only education credit that you can (maybe) qualify for when you don't have any income, requires you to be a US taxpayer (citizen, green card holder, or or alien living in the US not under an education Visa.)  It sounds like you would not qualify.
