Federal Refund ?

Hello, this is going to be an odd question. But I'm looking for somebody from TurboTax to answer it. I filed my federal and state tax in February and received my state tax refund direct deposit into our bank account which we have used for the past 7 or 8 years. I've been waiting for the federal tax refund and have been tracking it with the where's my refund app. The tracking would always say that the IRS issued our refund on March 10th. Today when I checked the app it said that a check was mailed to us and returned to the irs. They had our old address. About 6 months ago we moved cross country. I have now updated my address and they said they will mail it to me within 4 to 6 weeks to our new address. My question is-  why did they mail us a check when we filled out all the information correctly to be direct deposited just like the past 7 years. We are very confused on why they would have mailed us a check instead of using direct deposit like always.
