Error after filing
I have e-filed my return but have subsequently found an error. Do I immediately file an amended return or wait until the IRS finds it?
You should wait until the IRS processes your return before you prepare, print and mail an amended return form 1040X. The IRS might find the error. If it doesn't, then go ahead and do the amended return. See this link for help: https://ttlc.intuit.com/questions/1894381-how-to-amend-change-or-correct-a-return-you-already-filed
You must print and mail your amended return form 1040X. It can't be efiled.
