I am experiencing an error code which is irritatingly preventing me from e-filing my taxes. The error code is as follows: “Person on the Retun Worksheet (my name): Enrollmentstatus must be entered”. This is an exact quote, with spelling errors and missed spaces, I have just redacted my name. It does not show me where I can attempt to fix this issue which is extremely frustrating. I am finishing college and in possession of both the 1098-T “tuition statement” and 1099-Q “payments from qualified education programs” sheet, and I believe this “Enrollmentstatus must be entered” issue is referring to one of these sheets but turbotax has not at all been helpful in confirming or denying this. The problem is that I have no idea what the “Retun Worksheet” refers to, nor where I can find it to fix my “Enrollmentstaus”. Google has told me that this could be a bug with the software, but I really need a definitive answer to figure out if this is something I did wrong or not.

Try deleting the 'Person on the return' worksheet.

This is an error in TurboTax. Please see my work around here Re: I am trying to file my taxes and have this error message: person on return worksheet: enrollment...

I had this same issue for my kids that are in high school. The work around I found (in the desktop app) was to change their birthdate so that they are 19, then when going through the dependent workflow (did they live full time, etc) it will ask the question "are they a full time student". I selected "yes" and went forward a step to make sure it was saved. Then clicked back out to "You and Your Family" and changed the birthdate back to the original value.
Then you should see them marked as "full-time student" on the 1040 form.
I got to this "bug" because I tried to claim a 529 withdrawal for K-12 expenses. Apparently this is not allowed in my state but TurboTax didn't pick it up. As of writing these are the states: California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, Oregon, and Vermont . I had to claim it as an unqualified withdrawal.
In the Form 1098-T section, just add their school name (high school).
