I just received a msg that my file was rejected with the explanation below.
Does this indicate a problem with the software or something I entered?
The sum of all form W-2s must not be greater than the sum of [WagesSalariesAnd TipsAmt in the return and (sum of all schedule C (Form 1040), TotalGrossReceiptsAmt when StatutoryEmployeeFromW2Ind is checked) unless Form 8958 or Form 8839 is present in the return. When evaluating this, a tolerance of $5.00 is allowed.
This return cannot be electronically filed due to a processing error related to other income items listed on 1040 Schedule 1, line 8.
The issue will be resolved but there is currently no estimated date for when the update will be available. You have two options:
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Are you a statutory employer? Check your W2 there’s a box to indicate that your are a statutory employee on line 13.
I am not a statutory employee. The W-2 is from a non qualified retirement.
This is an IRS processing error. They have not announced a date when it will be repaired for certain but you can check back by efiling the return next week and then the week after that and so on until it goes through.
Thanks, I have decided to mail my returns in. Spent some time with one of the TurboTax experts today confirming my input was correct.
I got the same situation. My guess is that you have a non-qualified W2 income. The error comes from that it was put in Schedule 1 line 8 other income instead of in W2 income line 1a. This problem has been resolved after Feb 7 and you should be able to e-file if you have not mailed your return.
