E-File amend

I filed my tax return and it was accepted by the IRS last week. I am supposed to get $1324 refund. However, I left out $3K+ interests from a bank which I forgot put in the Schedule B. I did the amend, Turbotax said I owed $1284 now, that if I received $1324 from the IRS. I have not filed the amend. I don't want to pay $1284 to the IRS before receiving my initial refund first. Please advise.

Do NOT file the amended tax return until you receive the federal tax refund from the IRS.  You need to know the exact amount of the refund the IRS sends to you and it is that amount you entered on the amended return as the refund received from the IRS.  Reported on the Form 1040-X Line 18.

$3,000 of interest added to your tax return is not going to make your large

refund turn into a large amount you owe.

The Form 1040-X that popped out of the amendment process is probably wrong.

Review Lines 11-23.

" if I received $1324 from the IRS. I have not filed the amend."

This is not a true statement. your 1040 and 1040-X are processed separately,

and could pass each other, like ships in the night.

What is the change in AGI in Form 1040-X Line 1 Column B?

Is it $3,000? or much more than $3,000?

AGI in Form 1040-X Line 1 Column B - $3372

I removed the - to avoid any confusion that I might have posted a negative amount. Thanks.

AGI in Form 1040-X Line 1 Column B is $3372

Review 1040-X Lines 11-23 for correct values.
