Are you referring to e-filing your tax return to the IRS? Once you e-file and your return is accepted by the IRS, TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Turbotax gives an estimated date based on the IRS's 21 day timeframe. So it all depends on the IRS and how fast your tax return moves along in the system. Therefore, I would not worry about the estimated dates. The IRS expects to issue most refunds in less than 21 days after being accepted.
For the most up to date information on your refund visit the IRS Where’s My Federal Refund? site for updates. Updates are made daily, usually overnight. You may also download the IRS2Go app to check your Federal refund status.
Where’s My Refund? has a tracker that displays progress through 3 stages:
(1) Return Accepted "Received," (2) Refund Approved and (3) Refund Sent.
Note: Once your refund status on the IRS shows "Refund Sent" it can take 1 to 5 business days for the financial institution to deposit fund into your account.
