Check the IRS website for information concerning your federal tax refund as it should give you information concerning the changes to your refund - https://www.irs.gov/refunds
If you had unpaid debts go to this IRS website for refund offsets - https://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc203
Within the next few weeks you will receive a letter in the mail from the IRS explaining the changes and a procedure to use if you disagree with the changes.
If the IRS changed your refund they will send you a letter explaining the reason(s). The letter usually comes several weeks after the refund. Meanwhile, look on the IRS refund site to see if there are any messages that might explain the reason. Did you owe child support or back taxes, for instance? Or they might have caught a mistake made in income that was entered. TurboTax gets no information after you file you return so no one at TT can tell you why the refund was reduced.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 35a of your 2022 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:
And, do remember...if you chose to pay your fees from your federal refund, you must subtract those fees from the amount you saw on line 35a of your tax return form.
