Claiming dependent after filing

I usually claim 2 dependents out of 3. My parents were claiming my youngest since she was living with them up until a year and a half ago. I just discovered my parents did not claim my youngest neither did I this year. Will I get penalized for not claiming my youngest?

There is no penalty for not claiming a dependent.  If you qualify to claim your dependent, you can amend your return to add the dependent.  Amended returns must be mailed.
