I sent my taxes electronically a couple of days ago and realized that I put my newborn under "other dependents" instead of the child tax credit. Will the IRS be able to correct this or will I need to submit a 1040-X.
Thanks in advance!

You will need to amend (file Form 1040X), but as stated above, please wait until your original return is fully processed before transmitting the amendment. Once you receive your refund from the return you filed, it is safe to file the amendment. And congratulations on the new addition!
You were supposed to say that your newborn lived with you for the WHOLE year so that you could get the child tax credit, etc. So....once the return has been fully processed, you can amend to fix it.
Do not try to make any changes now.
The Form 1040X you might need becomes available in late February, But wait until your return has been processed.

Ah shucks - that's what I thought. Thank you both for the recommendations. The desktop version says that the amendment portion doesn't start until Feb. 15, but I will wait until getting the refund before filing the amendment.
