It can take up to 5 business days for your bank to deposit your tax return into your account. If the status in Where’s My Refund? shows “Refund Sent”, the IRS has sent your tax refund to your bank for direct deposit. If you don't receive it in after 5 business days, then you should contact your bank.

And those of us who have used you for years never changed banks and now for year two our refund is being mailed not direct deposited? I should not have to pay all your fees if I’m not getting what I paid for. This is not an issue with my bank or IRS- spoke to the IRS who said that no banking info or direct deposit request was filed with my return. This is getting old and frustrating

@russel_montgomer If you selected direct deposit for your refund but received a check instead, there are a few things that can cause that change. According to the IRS' website:

I requested a direct deposit refund. Why are you mailing it to me as a paper check?

There are three possible reasons. They are as follows:

  • We can only deposit refunds electronically into accounts in your own name, your spouse's name or in a joint account.
  • A financial institution may reject a direct deposit.
  • We can’t deposit more than three electronic refunds into a single financial account.

Check my direct deposit information

I just filed my 2019 taxes. I'm not getting a refund back, and owe $211. It did ask me for my direct deposit info, in which I entered..it also asked me for a payment account to enter to pay the $211 on a set date...the question is where are they gonna send my stimulus check? Because when I reviewed my tax form after it was accepted,  it doesn't show my direct deposit info...I just shows XXXXX.  So are they gonna send my stimulus check to the payment account or???

My direct deposit is the same I did not owe any taxes back.

Check my direct deposit information

Our 2019 Taxes are filed and paid - we owed .  We have had to pay the last couple of years .  I am not sure the direct deposit info on file is correct even if it is on file because we have changed banks.  We are Seniors and receive Social Security benefits direct deposit to correct bank.  Will our Stimulus Check be sent using that information?

Check my direct deposit information

The IRS states they will use the information from SSA-1099 and RRB-1099. Since you receive Social Security benefits, it appears that the stimulus check would go into that same bank account that you receive your benefit payments.
