Can I transfer my amended turbotax tax return to 2023

I am using turbotax desktop. I amended my 2022 tax return. Can I transfer my amended 2022 tax return into 2023 turbotax desktop?

Yes, that's exactly what you should do. When you start your 2023 tax return, select the file containing the amended 2022 tax return to transfer from.

When you start your 2023 tax return, select the file containing the amended 2022 tax return to transfer from. You do want to double check though and make sure everything transfers correctly.

I am using TurboTax desktop.  It appears the 2022 amended tax return does not make .tax file so there is nothing there to transfer, just the original return pre-amendments.  I contacted TurboTax and was essentially told the amended tax return cannot be transferred as it is a PDF.  But they were wish-washy!  That is why I am reaching out here.

The amended return is not a separate .tax2022 file. The amended return replaces the original return in the .tax2022 file that you used to create the amended return, assuming that you saved it after you amended it. Try transferring the .tax2022 file that you have and see if the information that transfers is from the amended return. If you have more than one .tax2022 file, use the most recent one, or the one with a "date modified" that corresponds to when you did the amended return.
