You can enter the data in the Federal section, then go thru the state section; the refund amounts will update in realtime as you do so. Even if your situation requires you to pay, you won't be asked to pay till the filing process begins *after* the state section. At that point, you can look at a non-printable preview of your return; if you're not satisfied, you can delete your personal information and log out without paying.
