Can I input tax files created with TT DVD into the TT online to create an amended return?

No. You cannot transfer a return prepared for the current tax year with the desktop (DVD/CD/Download) version into an online version of TurboTax (for the same year).

You can, of course, prepare an amended return using the desktop version.

No.  If you used the desktop software to prepare your return you use the same desktop software to prepare the amended return.

Open up your desktop software and go to Other Tax Situations, then go down to Other Tax Forms and click on Amend a Return.

Why do you want to do that?  Are you amending 2018?  Online is only for 2018 now.  Why can't you use the same program you did the original return on?
