Can I file a form 982 as an amendment to my tax return?

I filed my tax return and paid taxes on the canceled debt. Can I file the form 982 after the fact and get a refund?

You can file an amended return to include this form. What kind of debt are you trying to exclude?

Hi. Thanks for your response. It is cancellation of credit card debt. I am was insolvent at the time, but didn't know I could claim that. I had to borrow the money for the tax payment.

After hours entering tax data, i noticed that i failed to import prev year's file. Can i do this WITHOUT having to start new return? If not, it would be nice feature. THX
