Can i file 2020 taxes if i have not received my 2019 refund yet? i also have not received any of the stimulus payment, the irs posted my 2019 return will be mailed feb 2

as of today the irs web site says i will get 2019 refund mailed to me on feb,2. First--- should i wait to file 2020 taxes till i actually get the 2019 refund? second--- i never received any of the stimulus payments at all, what do i do?

Yes, you can file 2020 taxes if you have not received your 2019 refund yet if you took the standard deduction. Check your 2019 tax return on line 9. 

 

You will need to enter the details about your stimulus checks in TurboTax. 

 

To get there in TurboTax Online, follow these steps:

  • In your return, click the Other Tax Situations tab toward the top of the page
  • Scroll down to the end and click Let's keep going 
  • At Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount, click Continue
  • Be sure to report an amount for each of the stimulus payments as received. If the particular payment was not received at all, enter 0 and click Continue
