Can I expect to see the money I'm getting back from an amended tax form the same year?

not sure if you asking if you'll get the refund or  if your asking if you can see the amount.

yes, assuming there is nothing the IRS finds wrong.  this does not stop the it from auditing the amended return in the future and making changes even if they involve items not changed from the original return.  if your asking about the amount you should get back, it's on line 21 assuming the 1040-X is correct.

An amended federal tax return that had to be printed, signed, dated and mailed to the IRS can take up to 16 weeks or longer for the IRS to process.

Go to this IRS website for the status of an amended tax return - https://www.irs.gov/filing/wheres-my-amended-return

I don't understand your question but here's some info on amended refunds.

Amended returns can only be mailed.  It can take them 16 weeks for the IRS to process them.  And they only mail checks for refunds.   After 3 weeks you can track it here,

https://www.irs.gov/filing/individuals/amended-returns-form-1040-x-/wheres-my-amended-return-1

You will still get the first refund or need to pay the original tax due.  Then the amended return is only for the difference you get back or owe.  In fact you should not even amend until the first return has fully processed and you get the first refund or your tax due payment has cleared.  And make sure the original refund or tax paid shows up on the amended return.  You can confirm this by printing your amendment and looking at the 1040X. Line 18 should be your original refund amount and line 22 should be your additional refund.  If you paid on your original return it will be on line 16.  If there is an amount owed with the amendment, it will be on line 20.
