Can I e-file 1120-S Amendment for year 2022 ?

So I originally e-filed both Federal and State (CA) in 2022. I started an amendment for 2022 and followed thru to the end. For State it said I cannot file electronically and that I have to file paper copy. As for Federal it didn't tell me that but when I try to file electronically it shows my original filing date and the statement the return has been accepted? Basically there is not option to e-file my amendment!

Can I not file electronically my amended federal return? Am I doing something wrong? There is a TurboTax help topic that tells how to file an amendment electronically, SO I'm not sure why I cannot e-file?

Only certain paid tax pros  using professional tax software can e-file past year amended returns. You cannot e-file an amended past year return that you prepared yourself using TurboTax.  Your 1040X must be printed, signed and dated in ink, and then you need to mail it in.  Use a mailing service like certified mail so you will know the IRS received it, since you will have a long wait for it to be processed.

Do not expect quick results from amending. It can take four months or more for the IRS to process an amended return.

Are you confirming that I cannot e-file the federal business return? I will be mailing the state return by mail. just wanted to get a confirmation about the Federal return!

If you are asking about a 2024 return you can e-file it.  If you are asking about a past year return--original or amended---you have to file it by mail.   

If you want to e-file a past year return seek out a local paid tax preparer who has the capability to do that for you.  You cannot e-file a past year return using your do-it-yourself TurboTax software.

Thank you for the explanation and answer, Turbo Tax should update their article about filing and amendment to clear up any confusion that only the current year can be amended with e-file and not past years!
