Because a 2018 state refund you got in 2019 might be taxable on the federal return. Your current state refund should be up at the top next to the federal refund.
I'm not sure what you mean?? Could you please explain it better? I'm also needing to know why ive added my donation I did this year but it doesn't effect my balance at all of my taxes at all. This is the first year of me doing a donation and putting it on my taxes.
Donations won't help unless all your personal deductions are more than the Standard Deduction. You get either the Standard Deduction or your itemized deductions whichever is more. The new Standard Deduction is very high so most people take the Standard Deduction.
For 2019 the standard deduction amounts are:
Single 12,200 + 1,650 for 65 and over or blind
HOH 18,350 + 1,650 for 65 and over or blind
Joint 24,400+ 1,300 for each 65 and over or blind
Married filing Separate 12,200 + 1,300 for 65 and over or blind
