I exchanged one California real property for five (5) out of state real properties in 2019. I am required to file an annual 3840. This has been an ongoing issue since year 2020 and I have brought to the attention of multiple Tax Experts regarding the apparent software glitch in generating and attaching additional copy of schedule A if more than 3 properties were received. I have been filing the form manually with the California FTB since tax year 2020. I was hoping this software problem would be resolved in the 2023 tax software but apparently it has not been yet fixed. Appreciate any feedback form anyone who might have a similar issue.

I have exactly the same issue with the software. I exchanged one (1) California property for four (4) out of state properties. There is no way to add just a CA Form 3840 Schedule A (as directed on the tax form) to my tax return. I have been doing the same (filing a paper return) for the past 2 years. Perhaps this note will help to incentivize Intuit to update the software so it actually does what is required and stated on the form.
I had called Intuit customer service after I filed 2021 returns and asked them to fix this software problem and I was assured that it would be looked into but nothing has happened so far. I also spoke to their outsourced tax assistance people who were clueless and couldn’t provide any guidance. Let’s hope Turbo fix this problem soon.
I have the exact same problem. I contacted customer service and talked to several people in technical support last year. They acknowledged the issue because the person who walked through the issue with me clearly understood what was wrong and what's the required fixes. She promised to log the issue and work with development department to make the necessary modification.
It looks like nothing has changed this year just like all the previous years. I am wondering if there's a development team tracking the backlog of issues. How can a simple small issue like this be on hold for so many years without ever getting prioritized? It's beyond comprehension at this point. TurboTax needs to make all the backlog issues transparent to customers. We should be able to see the progress being made on these types of issues. At the very least, we should be able to find out where it is in the queue and when is it expected to be worked on.
