So can I file my other tax papers after i’ve received my first refund instead of waiting to amend and paying a fee? Or would it be best to wait to amend and add my other tax forms?

If you already filed and got the refund you can only Amend to change it or add more forms. So you have to wait until the Amend 1040X form is ready late February. You don't have to pay a fee to amend unless you need to upgrade to a higher version to enter something.
