I mailed amend for 2016 on June 12, 2017, and I have not had a respond from the federal or state. How can I find out if they are working on it?

I failed to check the box concerning my income.

I am require to pay $575.00 payments for 5 or 6 months, and its due again this month.

What payments? Did you set up a payment plan directly with the IRS? I hope you are not using any quarterly payment slips that printed out from Turbo Tax.  Those are 1040ES estimate slips for estimated payments towards Next year 2017 return and weren't for your 2016 tax due.

Amended returns take about 4 months to process for Federal.. State varies.
