Do you mean you e-filed it twice? Only one could be accepted; the other one will be rejected.
I received two 1099s that were not expected after I filed my 2022 taxes electronically with Turbotax. I filed an amended tax return but somehow I transmitted it twice to the IRS and authorized an ACH withdrawal from my bank account. As expected the IRS deducted the additional tax due from my bank account twice. How do I fix this?
I received a notification via Turbotax that my amended return had been accepted. Two days later I checked my bank account and the tax due was deducted from my bank account twice as consecutive entries.
I looked at topics under the Amend a Return section and could not find anything that seemed to fit this topic.
My problem is still not resolved. The IRS deducted the additional tax due from my bank account twice and I need to get one of the deductions back. I thought about calling the IRS but their website says I need an appointment to talk to someone. Since we are in the tax season I have not gone that route yet. It seems to me there should be a simple reversal via TurboTax to correct this error and get my excess payment back.
IRS says you can e-File Form 1040-X three times during the tax season.
I don't know if TurboTax supports this but your experience may say the answer is Yes it does.
In any case, TurboTax/Intuit can't get your money back from IRS.
