I filed my TY2020 taxes with TurboTax Desktop (TTD) on May 17, 2021.
TTD did not alert me to the fact the underpayment was assessed and added to the Fed tax.
I wanted to correct this and started a 1040X return.
When I look at the 1040X AND BEFORE making any changes,
the numbers are messed up for both Fed/NJ.
For one, the Federal shows I owed 1, and the NJ shows I get a refund of 624,
What it should show is $0 difference for both Fed/NJ.
When looking at the Federal 1040X form
the Original Amount column numbers are incorrect,
but the Corrected Amount numbers are exactly the way I filed.
When looking at the NJ1040X form, it is same thing.
There have been two TTD updates applied since I filed.
There is no way to find out what these updates changed.
I am used the Mac OS X version of TurboTax Desktop
on a MacBookPro running Catalina 10.15.7
What is going on here ?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
Due to the tax law changes in March and the subsequent program changes it is making amending returns this year much more difficult since the 1040X column A must reflect the newer of the original figures or the updated ones changed by the IRS.
