I made a significant error on my tax return and refused the IRS direct deposit refund. I need to prepare an Amended Return 10340-X NOW. How do I get the ability to submit an amended return? Should I just go to Tax Act and start over?

If the IRS rejected the return, fix it.
What is the rejection message? Quote all of it exactly.
Stop panicking and wait a few days for the 1040X to become available on the TT site. it is scheduled to be available on 2-15----days away. If you try to go to another site and amend a return you prepared using TT you will only compound your mistakes and create confusion for yourself and the IRS.

Regarding your comment to "Stop Panicking" because TurboTax does not provide a means to submit a 1040X amendment, we have used TurboTax for 15 years with good results. This year I made an error on the initial return and now need to file a 1040X and amended state tax return but Turbotax does not provide a 1040X or the means to electronically file that or an amended Alabama return.
In your earlier response, you stated the 1040X would be available 2/15/24. Please provide an update as to when the Amendment capability will be available. It is nearly two months into the tax season and 1040X still not available. I need to decide if switching to a different provider is necessary.
Thank you,
Jerry Anderson
The availability date for the 1040X is subject to change. We have not been given a new date as of today. You can keep checking. It should be soon. And...the tax season really did not begin until January 29---that is when the IRS began to accept/reject tax returns.
Please escalate this issue to management or let me know how I can do it.
Thank you.
Sorry---I am not a TurboTax employee. You just have to wait for the 1040X like everyone else who is waiting for it to become available in the software program. Or----would you prefer to download the paper form from the IRS site and file it by mail?
