Amended refund - owe federal money however i live outside of USA

I have finished my filing and have amended my return so need to send my return ASAP. However there is a change between my 2 federal returns. will i get sent my federal return and then i just send the balance back? i do live in ireland which concerns me as well

It will be a two step process. First you will receive your original refund, and then after amending, if you owe the IRS you would pay them directly. 

You can mail a check for the difference if you owe the IRS, or the IRS has many payment options on their website linked below.
