Amend due to Covid 19

It was suggested to me to consider amending my taxes and remove my 2 adult (over 17yr & non working children) whom live at home still therefore I claim as dependants. Seeing as I will not be able to receive $500. Stimulus assistance for them due to age NOR can they receive $1200. Due to me claiming them.

There is no reason for you to amend your return to remove your dependents. It will not change your situation or theirs with regard to the stimulus payments.

In fact, if you did amend your return to remove the two dependents, you would lose your $500 credit for other dependents that should be included on your return as it was filed. Amending would require you to pay that $1000 credit back to the IRS.
