So it looks like I accidentally entered a non-deductible IRA contributions when I actually contributed to a Roth IRA  on my 2018 taxes which were filed last year and accepted.  This was not a recharacterization, I simply entered it incorrectly last year.  Do I need to file an amended tax return?

Yes, you would need to amend your 2018 tax return, although there would not be any change in tax liability. But that would set the record straight for the future.
