1095-B....my refund is almost half from last year and I didn't enter my health premiums as a deduction, could this be why?

I said yes and that I had insurance for 10 months in 2016

When I entered that I didn't have insurance for 2 months I was told that I wouldn't be penalized. Why els would my refund me so much less?

I only ask because nothing really changed from last years return aside from a difference of making about 2,500 more this year

The only way to avoid not being penalized is to have an exemption certificate. I'm not sure who told you that you would not be penalized for the two months. Also, another reason could be that you got bumped up into the next tax bracket with the additional money you made.

After entering my coverage month info I was informed right away that I was exempt from any penalties
