I completed/submitted our 2020 taxes on 2/15/2021. On 2/18/2021, a 1444B form was received from the IRS stating "An EIP2 payment in the amount of $1,200 was issued by direct deposit". On 3/2/2021 our refund amount as shown on the taxes submitted 2/15/2021 was deposited to our checking account. However, the $1,200 EIP2 payment was NOT included, nor did we ever receive a direct deposit of the $1,200.
Should we file an amended 2020 tax to show the Recovery Rebate Credit of $1,200 or submit form #3911Taxpayer Statement Regarding Refund for the IRS to trace the direct deposit of the $1,200?
Thanks!

Trace the payments.
Check your IRS account---does the IRS say they sent you a payment that you did not receive? (If you filed a joint return you need to check for both spouses.) If so you can ask for a trace to be put on the payment.

If you were issued a payment and have not received it, see How do I request a payment trace to track my first or second Economic Impact Payments?
Yes, since it is very difficult to get ahold of someone at the IRS these days, it would not hurt for you to file the 3911.
In the meantime, since it may take a while to hear something from the IRS, you could check the IRS account by way of requesting a tax transcript by going to irs.gov/transcript. If you do not already have a login, you will need to create an account. Once your account is created, log in and request an Account Transcript for Tax Year 2020. This will list all actions taken on your account for the 2020 year. This report should also show whether or not they sent the direct deposit, if so it will give you the exact date.
If the transcript shows the direct deposit, double check your bank account. If you cannot find the deposit, then I would call the IRS to verify the bank account that the funds were sent.
