I received a letter from State of Louisiana regarding my pension. They are questioning a claimed credit or exemption. Is there a cover letter that I can send and what other documents should I send? They are asking for a copy of 1099R. I think the problem is the $3000 credit they give for insurance. This happened on Federal before which everything was correct. The PSO was overlooked on tax form.

Respond to the notice as requested with the information they asked for ... pen a note explaining what you think happened ... be polite and state your position clearly and succinctly with supporting documents attached.
Thanks for your help. I used a past letter Turbo Tax helped me with regarding this but with the Federal not State.
