I have a follow-up question to one I previously asked.
"I filed my 2020 taxes via a free online service, and accidentally said that I could not be claimed as a dependent. Now my father is unable to claim me on his taxes, or file as head of house hold."
I was told in order to fix this, I would need to amend my taxes with form 1040-X. I am unable to complete this via an online service, so I am printing a physical copy.
However, I do not see anywhere to change my dependent status on this form. Do I just explain it in Part III (Explanation of Changes)? I appreciate any help.

Yes---if you are filing it on a paper form to mail then explain in writing. This is still not going to help your parent to e-file. Your parent cannot e-file this year. Your parent's return has to be mailed now, no matter what you do to amend.
@xmasbaby0 So would I only fill out my name, address, SSN, etc. and the explanation of changes? I am only wanting to change my dependent status- not my own dependents, my filing status, or any amounts.
I apologize for so many questions. I am having a bit of difficulty understanding the IRS provided instructions.
If you are having so much trouble with it you can wait until the 1040X becomes available online later --end of February or early March we think----there is no rush---again----no matter how fast you try to amend, your dad still has to file on paper. You might find it to be easier to use the online form since the software will walk you through it.
