Why is SBTPG holding refunds?

After much research I want to know why SBTPG is holding refunds? This is not ok, and I want to know why Turbo Tax is not doing a thing about it? I will never use Turbo Tax or any other tax preparer that goes through SBTPG again. This is from SBTPG's website
"TPG does not hold your money. When a deposit is received from the IRS, your money is processed as soon as it received and typically issued within 24 hours of receipt. If you selected direct deposit, it may take 1-2 business days to reach your bank account. Your payment is not wired to your account."

It’s going to be a month on 4/29 since my refund was sent out by the IRS and STBG still has my refund and it says it’s been funded to my bank account and I know their lying because I’ve called my bank and I know my account number is correct. So why ate they doing this to everyone who should have their refund by now. I’m out filling with TT

SBTPG has had my funds since march 3rd.. they sent 3 checks.. first one bounced and the last 2 were someone elses name with my address... company is bull **bleep**

My check was issued by the IRS in February 25, (2 months ago today). TPG has yet to issue my balance. I have submitted an indemnity form and filed a complaint with the BBB. The next step will be a lawsuit for the financial hardship this irresponsible and inconsiderate act has caused. I should not have to constantly call and wait for hours on the phone to speak to someone about my money. They should be reaching out to me letting me know how they are taking care of the problem. Will not Not NOT be doing business small or large with TPG or TT again.

Going forward, you can avoid all this (and save the extra charge) by paying your TT fees upfront with a debit or credit card. And you can change your withholding so that you do not have to wait for a refund at tax time. Why give the government an interest-free loan all year?

Unfortunately, even after I paid my TT charges up front I am still having this issue. I only received half the amount I was supposed to receive for my Federal refund (from SBTPG)

SBTPG is in fact holding funds and for more than 20 people. Not sure why it's not being looked into.

Please stop misleading people.

Everyone has reached out to the IRS who have told us the payment was sent out. We know that it then goes back to you or shall I say your bank for processing and they are sitting on it.

First we are told it's because the fee wasn't paid but that is a you problem and needs correcting. We then get a date of a deposit that was denied for some reason or another and a check was sent out. Oh yes we also get charged a fee for this check.

But the date for the checks arrival never comes and if your lucky to speak to a person they will give you another date.

All lies and still not tax return.

That's why I'm looking into how not to pay federal tax since no one wants to help us get out money I say we don't pay into it. Do exempt

I am seeing a lot of posts about people not receiving refunds, but is anyone receiving half the refund they expected? I have a deposit from SBTPG in my account - but it's only for half the Federal refund TurboTax stated I'd be receiving.

Are they refunding in multiple transactions or is this issue part of the bigger problem people are reporting? Any guidance would be very appreciated!

Maybe the IRS reduced your refund before sending it out. How much is missing? The IRS will mail you a letter.

The 2 most common reasons this year is you entered the wrong amount on line 30 for the Recovery Rebate Credit (3rd Stimulus payment) or line 28 for the Child Tax Credit. Those lines are just if you didn't already get the full amount or qualify for more. The IRS knows what they already sent you.

A lot of people answered the questions wrong and tried to claim the credits again. Double check your bank statements to see what the IRS sent you during the year for the 3rd Stimulus payment and Advance Child Tax Credit .

Missing close to $1,500 and accurately accounted for the stimulus checks received. Child Tax Credit is N/A. Super confused but clearly there are major issues that many people are experiencing.

NONE of these links answers the question WHERE IS MY MONEY!! Looking into it means NOTHING! We want our money when the IRS said we should have it!!

The SBTPG bank is inflating their holdings by using our refunds, and they are justifying it by claiming “unusual activity .” Oh yeah, what unusual activity? The bank: we don’t know yet, but as soon as we find out -the same as saying, “reach our mark-“ we’ll release your refunds. Its how they make crazy bread off us. Meanwhile, we suffer the blues while they smoke Cuban cigars on their ill gotten yachts. We need Chuck Rose on the case.

@Jutell45 Sh*t is absurd and absolutely sick! They don’t care about ppl who have mortgages, rent, children, bills, etc;.. who’ve suffered tremendously behind their BS! It does nothing but force you too take legal action. I’m not sure what planet they’re on but it’s clearly a LOST ONE if they think for one second “I” or anyone for that matter is gonna allow them to get away with taking thousands or even a dollar of our hard earn money. The f*ck they do that @?! 🤔 🤔

I feel your pain @Shaynoog; we can’t let Greendot bank get away with this mess. I’m filing a complaint with the NYS attorney general in the morning. I have a feeling that Greendot bank is holding our refund to generate capital to help TurboTax with its recent legal problems. We need to get everyone involved in this matter.

Your bank account wasnt closed though before the refund was deposited literally my bank was closed cause of a incorrect password attempt and i lost 3300 dollars🤦🏽‍♂

They have had my refund since 1:19 am on June 22nd! I have contacted the irs and that date and time is correct! No money in my account as of now! No wonder there is a class action suit filed! Fix this! Total negligence on all of your part!

Could someone please send the information on the class action suit? The IRS sent my refund to Green Dot bank on 31 March 2022 and I have still not received my refund. I cannot get through to Santa Barbara Tax Group because, when asked to input my SSN and tax filing status my information is not recognized, and thus I cannot get through to speak with a person at Santa Barbara.
