Question

TPG PRODUCTS SBTPG LLC

My return was supposed to be 6793. My state was 1342 which was correct when it hit my account. My federal was supposed to be 5451 but was 4051. Originally before I put in my child tax credit info and stimulus my refund amount was 9k. My federal refund came from TPG PRODUCTS SBTPG LLC not the IRS. What can I do to get my money that was taken from me. We work to hard to have money taken from us that we deserve. This is outrageous. I’m going to be contacting a lawyer. If anyone has any solution or ideas feel free to email me [email address removed]

    Was the amount of the federal tax refund changed by the IRS?  Go to the IRS federal refund status website to check - https://www.irs.gov/refunds

    The reason this was asked is because the refund was exactly $1,400 less which is the exact amount of the 3rd stimulus payment.

    Look at your Form 1040 Line 30.  Is there a Recovery Rebate Credit of $1,400 entered?

    If your refund is short $1,400 then the IRS has records that show you were sent the 3rd stimulus payment so they removed the $1,400 Recovery Rebate Credit.

    If you checked your bank account in the March - May 2021 timeframe and there is not a $1,400 EIP3 payment from the IRS then go to this IRS website for how to start a trace on the payment - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/questions-and-answers-about-the-third-economic-impact-payment-topic-j-p...

    In this public forum we cannot diagnose why your refund has been reduced. For additional information, please see this Help Article or this TurboTax blog.

    I just got off the phone with the irs, I was able to get through by using phone prompts that I want to set up a payment.

    I just got off the phone with the IRS. They told me TPG had their bank account numbers take $1368 of my refund, then my bank account numbers took 4138.11. The irs issued me $5506.11.  The irs stated this is how I had my refund set up, which is insane. Id never in my life set up my account for Turbo tax to steal that much. They said I owed no debt I already paid it off.

    They told me to file form for tax preparation fraud form 14157a

    So I'm filling that out now.

    I just learned my tax return supposed to be $ 3332.00 but the IRS changed my return to $1843 .16. I need to learn why they changed it.

    @Charleslj - that is about a $1500 difference.

    Did you receive the advance child tax credit?  that was $300 per month from July to December, 2021.

    Now look at line 28 of your Form 1040 tax return.  That should say $1500 for the remaining half of the child tax credit for one child, but if it says $3000, that means you didn't indicate when prompted within TT that you alrady received $1500.

    if that is what occured, then the IRS adjusted your tax return to reflect that you already received $1500 that wasn't reflected on the tax return.

    is that what occured?

    The IRS does not notify TT when it makes an adjustment and/or offset, but it may be due to the stimulus (Recovery Rebate) or Child Tax Credit.  Lots of taxpayers (not just TT customers) have been doing this wrong. You will be getting a letter in the mail from the IRS in 2-4 weeks.
