Got irs letter requesting supporting documentation for dependant

Need to make use of the extra money I spent to avoid audit with turbo tax and can't talk on the phone as I am at work

Audit defense does not prevent audits. It MAY be of help if you get a tax notice. Not always. That letter that requested information on your dependent should specify what will satisfy the IRS. I don’t think Audit defense can be of any help in this matter. You would have to gather the information then forward it to AD whose only option would be to review and send it on to the IRS. This is nothing that can be solved by a phone call to the iRS.

One thing you can do is find out if the dependent file their own return and failed to note they could be claimed as a dependent.

just follow the IRS letter and provide what they are asking for - no more and no less.  Send the documentation back in whatever form they require - could be by mail, could be by fax.
