Entered wrong social security number for spouse

I electronically filed my tax return on Friday and thought it was strange it has not been accepted. After taking a look this morning, I noticed that my spouse's SSN is incorrect (we filed separately).

Do I wait for the IRS to reject my return (if so, how long does that usually take)?

Or

Can I amend my return now with the correct SSN?

You will have to wait for the IRS to either Accept or Reject your filed federal tax return.
If the return is rejected you can make the necessary changes and e-file again.
If the return is accepted you will have to amend your original tax return. An amended return, Form 1040-X, can only be printed and mailed to the IRS if the original tax return was not e-filed. The IRS will take up to 20 weeks or longer to process an amended tax return.

Before starting to amend the tax return, wait for the tax refund to be received or the taxes due to be paid and processed by the IRS.

Wait for the rejection.   The IRS began to accept/reject e-files today on 1-29.  When your return is rejected you can fix the SSN and re-file it.  Do not try to make any changes yet.

Will it most likely be rejected for a spouse's incorrect SSN?

If for some reason it is accepted, I guess I should amend the return or leave it be?

My spouse has not filed their taxes yet if that makes any difference.
