Delay

I filed via TurboTax back on February 12, 2021, and still have yet to receive my federal refund. Everything on IRS.gov says it’s still processing, but this is the first time in 20 years that I’ve used TurboTax and it’s now been 2.5 months, which is making me wonder if it’s something on TurboTax’ end that may have affected this. Again, there are always delays with this, but nothing has ever taken THIS long. Any way I can have someone check out my situation?

It depends. You may need to wait a bit longer as the IRS has had to implement many changes in the last few weeks.  Trying using the following link to track your refund.

IRS processing time and refund status

The online link is your best option to track your refund.  I have attached a link with more answers from the IRS as to why your refund may be taking longer to process.

Please also see the links below for additional information if you were getting a refund, or how you can view the latest changes to your account with the IRS.

Indeed thank you. Yes I saw those articles, and some others outlining the delays. There are always delays though - I’ve just never experienced a 2.5 month delay, that’s nearly the entire tax season. The only large variable this year that is way different than any other year dealing with delays is that I went through TurboTax this year. Oh well, the waiting will go on. Thanks again for the help, folks.

the IRS is way behind in processing returns and issuing refunds.  this is due to lack of on-site staffing due to the pandemic, an outdated computer system, changes to the tax laws after the start of the year that affects 10's of millions of returns, and many more reasons.   there was a thread on the internet that the IRS had about 30 million returns still needing processing and it had not even processed all of the 2019 returns.  there is nothing anyone can do to speed up the refund.
