After that you would have to use TurboTax Desktop and file the amended return by mail. The IRS will accept an amended return for 2025 until April 15, 2029.

The deadline for filing an amendment for the 2025 tax year that results in a refund is April 15, 2029.

However, if the amendment results in owing tax to the IRS, it’s owed - there is no deadline on that. Separately, once three years have passed from the filing date, the IRS can’t come back to the taxpayer asking for more tax, but if the taxpayer submits an amendment of his own free will, it’s owed.

Not following your question. An Amended return is to make changes to the original filed return. What year do you want to amend?

You should not amend until the first return has fully processed and you get the first refund or your tax due payment has cleared. But first be sure to save a copy of your original return since the amended return will overwrite it. Do not make any changes until you start the amend process.
