2nd Stimulus

I would like to know how TurboTax think they do not share the blame in this mess considering they created accounts to receive their payment from your return.  I received my 1st stimulus check  with NO problem.  WE DO NOT want to hear it was the IRS error your company have a part in this as well.  According to MSN & CNET

this issue has been resolved on Friday....so WHY are we getting this email stating 1-10-21

"Unfortunately, for some tax filers affected by the IRS error, stimulus payments are still at the IRS. Without the IRS releasing these funds to us, we do not have a way to get your payment to you. The IRS will need to re-issue your stimulus payment.
According to the IRS, stimulus payments are expected to be deposited into bank accounts by the end of January. You had the funds before so why didn't you release them to us then??? With the 3rd Stimulus on the way who in their right mind would want to go through this MESS again.  I'll decide if I use your services again when I get my 2nd  Stimulus check. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way.

TOTALLY DISGUSTED!!!!

Turbo Tax has nothing to do with the delay of money from the IRS to your bank account. It's the Treasury Department...contact your representative/senator and complain. Just saying, you're wasting your abundant free time complaining to deaf ears? This is not the forum to get people mad at the WRONG entity by spreading misinformation. Honestly, I don't know why Turbo Tax allows such blatant inaccurate suggestions post.

I never said I was mad. You need to learn the difference between anger and frustration!

We received both checks but Turbo gave me A credit for the second check.  So we will receive a $1200 tax refund in addition to the two checks.  How can I correct this before I send off our return??!!!

Turbo tax isn't the blame. If that is the case all those places like H&R block and others that does taxes is the blame. It's IRS fault that our second check got sent to accounts like turbo, H&R block and these other places. If you paid a fee to have taxes done, IRS sent checks to the accounts that such places had set up for fees of such places. So chill it's has been deault with.

Reconciliation for the first and second stimulus payments was done on the 2020 return  so if  you have not yet filed you can correct any wrong entries and file the return.

If you have filed then the IRS will automatically correct the "math error" when they process your return.  There is nothing you can or should do at this time.

The IRS sent payments to the bank account they had on file for you. If you filed your last tax return with the Assisted Refund (AR) option (meaning you paid the filing fee with your tax refund instead of out of pocket) then your tax preparer had to intercept your refund to subtract the tax prep fees. To do this, an account has to be created so that the refund has a place to go. Most tax preparers offer prepaid cards- which have a bank account and routing number attached to them in case you choose to use them for other things, like direct deposit of your employment paycheck, etc. If you opt in for a prepaid card, read the terms and conditions. The majority of them- if not all- do not charge a monthly fee is the card is not in use and will keep the card active.

If you did not opt in for the prepaid card and used direct deposit to your actual bank, that information is provided to the IRS.

When the EIP (Stimulus payment) is sent to a closed account, the law states the bank receiving it has to reject the payment and return it back to the IRS.

Due to the quick deadline and millions of people affected, it will take time to get all of those payments received back, printed, and mailed back out to their intended recipients.  I understand your frustration, as my second stimulus was sent to a closed account, too. However, my closed account was a personal one.

My best advice, if you have not received your stimulus payment yet due to a closed account, log into the Get My Payment Tool once daily to see if there is an update. The IRS only updates it once per day, usually overnight. Also, if you don't have an account with USPS, sign up for one. It's free. You'll be able to utilize the "Informed Delivery" feature which tells you what mail and packages arriving to your address. It will show you a photo of letter size mail pieces. For anything larger it will just tell you a number for pieces arriving that they "do not have a photo for" in addition to the ones that did have a photo. Keep in mind, they do not only show you mail with your name on it. If there are other members in your household, it will show theirs too. Informed Delivery also has an app for both Android and iPhone. It's called "Informed Delivery." If your check is coming that day, you will be able to see the actual photo of it. Helps ease a tiny bit of the stress.

    I hope this helps!

I feel your pain.  I am also waiting for my second stimulus and had to spend money for a tax refund I didn't need to file.  But this is on the govt.  Not Turbo tax.  Try contacting representative in your area.  They send you a form with permission to inquire.  At the end of the day, we will get this return.

Yes.  I know.  Glad you got your notice.  I have been able to get on intuit site.  But apparently, I have three accounts.  God help me.  Smacks of fraud.

For anyone who still did not receive their 2nd stimulus money, I talk to a TurboTax agent and he said they are still going out until the 23rd of February. But even better if you file through Turbo Tax, while filing your federal return you will be able to fill out whether you received your money or not and how much. And whatever is still owed to you will be added to your federal taxes return.

Appreciate the update.  My frustrations are not really with Turbo Tax.  Mine are being forced to pay to file a return just because IRS during the Trump admin.  didn't do it's job.  I feel targeted.

You have not lost your stimulus money. The Recovery Rebate Credit will cover both the first and second stimulus payments. This will determine the full amount of potential refund you are entitled to based on income and eligible dependents, and will be part of the final combined refund on your return, if applicable. It was a requirement to be reconciled on the 2020 tax return.

In TurboTax Online, to claim the Recovery Rebate credit please do the following:

    1. Sign into your account and continue from where you left off
    2. Click on Federal in the left-hand column, then on Federal Review on the top of the screen
    3. On the next page titled Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount, click on Continue
    4. Follow the interview
    5. TurboTax will determine whether you are entitled to any additional stimulus
    6. Any stimulus amount remaining due to you will show as a credit on line 30 of your form 1040.

Get My Payment - Select the button Get My Payment to see if your information is current based on the payments you did receive.

Your post is kind of confusing.  Not sure what you meant by they sent you the water and that you got them the recovery rebate credit.
