Is there a bug in EIC calculations?

I got to earned income credit, the screen says  I don't qualify, because my income is 44k, while a prev screen said my total is 31,700. I'm  a single mom - head of household. My child is under 19 and in college. My Interest income is well below the threshold. So, to me it looks like I should qualify. NO?

Hi, as you know, if your filing status is Head of Household you cannot have income exceeding $40,320.

You must also meet the following criteria:

  • Your tax year investment income must be $3,500 or less for the year.
  • Must not file Form 2555, Foreign Earned Income or Form 2555-EZ, Foreign Earned Income Exclusion.
  • Your total earned income must be at least $1.
  • Both your earned income and adjusted gross income (AGI) must be no more than $40,320.
