Your state return cannot be accepted until your federal return is accepted.

The IRS will not begin to accept/reject returns until January 28.  Until then, e-filed returns will just be sitting on a server, waiting.  You will receive an email after that date letting you know if your return was accepted or rejected.  It will probably take several days after January 28 for them to work through the backlog of returns on the server.

It’s relieving to see other people are in the same boat as me, but very frustrating. I filed electronically and it was accepted on 2/18. My status still says “processing.” My boyfriend just had his taxes done at the beginning of April and received his check last week. He opted for a paper check and filed in-person with a tax professional. I did direct deposit and filed using an online program. It makes no sense. His is more complicated than mine is even, so why he got his quicker is beyond me.

I FINALLY got a letter.  They want copies of my W2 and paycheck from the end of the year.  Looks like they are auditing every single one.

@julieoelschppp  Not necessarily an audit. They might not have gotten the state copy of the W-2 form from your employer.

I've contacted the MN state advocate regarding my refund. I got no where, but offered a once in a life time hard ship urgent process. This happens each year to me. I get a letter requesting additional information, I'm assuming to buy time.  As of yesterday,  I was told I'm in the same boat as hundreds of thousands of Minnesotans.
